How to be still and live in the present moment: On meditation

What I like the most is living in the "now". The past is already gone and the future remains unwritten yet. So the best way to live is in the present moment. One of the best practices in living like this is through meditation. In this technique, we are training our minds to be quiet and only focus at the present moment. It is easy to perform, find a peaceful place to sit then just close your eyes and begin to be conscious of your breathing. Inhale and exhale deeply. You can do it with soft music as background or none at all. A lot of people are practicing meditation, some are using it to relieve stress and many for relaxation purposes. They say that a lot of successful people has some sort of this practice and help them get to where they're right now. You can also meditate through your cellphone using an Application. Few that I'm using and/or used are Headspace, Calm, etc. Having an App gives you instant access and conveniently meditate wherever you are. I have also attended group meditations, one of which is through Zen, which is a Japanese practice where they highlight walking meditation. The experience was exciting yet calming. In this times where we're caught up by a lot of external forces that seem to drive our lives, It's nice and refreshing to pay attention and live at the present moment.
